ARTS Lab NEA award, “Dome Poems: Memory and Emergence”

Levi Romero, Miguel Gandert, Tim Castillo, Hue Walker

ARTS Lab has been awarded an Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support the creation of Dome Poems: Memory and Emergence, a 20-minute immersive film that will commemorate the New Mexico State Centennial (2012) with poetic and photographic reflections on the past 100 years of culture and regional identity in the Indo-Hispano communities of northern New Mexico. This collaborative effort between New Mexico State Centennial Poet Levi Romero, photographer and filmmaker Miguel Gandert, and immersive media artist Hue Walker, all New Mexican artists, will create a work that reflects on the past while also looking to the future: It will be presented in fulldome theaters in New Mexico as well as in plazas and community gathering spaces across the state, and distributed internationally via DomeFest.  ARTS Lab Director Tim Castillo will serve as PI for the project.
