NEH: Digital Dialectic: Forging New Paths of Inquiry in the Humanities

NHCC web page for the Torreon fresco

ARTS Lab will begin collaborating with the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) on Digital
Dialectic: Forging New Paths of Inquiry in the Humanities, a bilingual project that will empower
humanities education with interactive digital tools that illuminate the interdisciplinary and
multicultural nature of the humanities as well as increase access to artifacts that are fixed in place
and are of a scale and elevation that makes viewing of details difficult even for on-site visitors.
Frederico Vigil’s buon fresco, Mundos de Mestizaje, at the NHCC allegorically depicts 3000 years
of cross-cultural exchange (mundos is Spanish for “worlds;” mestizaje refers to the hybridity of
cultural identity).
