Dale Alverson

Research Interests: Dr. Alverson is a Professor of Pediatrics and UNM Regents' Professor
on faculty at the University of New Mexico, School of Medicine. He has
been an investigator on a number of Telehealth research programs,
including Project TOUCH (Telehealth Outreach for Unified Community
Health), a joint collaborative effort with the University of Hawaii,
the University of New Mexico and the Maui and UNM High Performance
Computing Centers, incorporating virtual reality simulation and virtual
collaboration over the Next Generation Internet Access Grid that can
support "just-in-time" team training or "serious games" in which
people can participate together in a virtual world even if they're
1000's of miles apart. More recently the Uniform Services University
National Capital Area Medical Simulation Center has joined in this
effort in conjunction with the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology
Research Center (TATRC) at the US Army Medical Research and Material
Command (USAMRMC), Ft. Detrick, MD. He is also on the Board of Advanced
Initiatives in Medical Simulation (AIMS) to promote the integration of
simulation in healthcare for education, training and performance
assessment.

Research Interests: Donna Jewell is the co-founder and co-director of ECOTONE, which performed in the ARTS Lab performance space in February 2007. ECOTONE teamed up with multimedia artists Hue Bumgarner and Enrico Trujillo to produce an evening length work entitled LIMBO, incorporating improvised text, song, music, contemporary dance, audience interaction, video and motion capture images.

Research Interests: Patricia Repar is a composer of contemporary chamber music and electronic soundscapes; narratives told through sound, gesture, and image; digital drones, original instruments, and live vocal improvisations at the bedside; video documentaries and recorded oral histories; living installations in medical environments; performance experiments in health and education. She is currently seeking partners in the field of science and technology to co-create one or both of the following: interactive, virtual reality games for pain management and health education; and portable, durable computers for community art groups working in the rural areas of South Africa.
