PATRICIA MICHAELS: Artist Talk

On November 9th join us at UNM’s ARTSLab for a free artist talk by Patricia Michaels, a world-renowned fashion and textile designer who hails from Taos Pueblo. 

Michaels attended the Institute of American Indian Arts, the Art Institute of Chicago (with Nick cave as her mentor), and has worked at Santa Fe Opera costume department. She competed on Project Runway Season 11, was awarded the inaugural Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian “Arts & Design Award,”  has spoken at the Bill & Melinda Gates Scholar Foundation, and received the 2023 Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts, amongst many other accolades. Her current work as CEO of her PM Waterlily LLC takes her around the world from New Zealand, South Africa, and numerous countries in Europe. She is a New York Fashion Week veteran, where she returns regularly to give lectures, workshops, fundraisers, residencies, and unveil her latest fashion designs.

This event is free and open to all current UNM CFA students, faculty, and staff. ARTSLab is located at 131 Pine Street NE. A valid UNM ID is for entrance.
