ARTSLab hosted a special presentation by Neil Mendoza on November 25, showcasing his innovative Electrical Knife Orchestra and sharing insights into his creative journey.
On November 25, 2024, ARTSLab hosted a special presentation by artist Neil Mendoza, known for blending sculpture, software, and engineering to create whimsical and thought-provoking works. Mendoza showcased his Electrical Knife Orchestra, an inventive and humorous installation that transforms everyday electric knives into a musical ensemble, challenging the audience’s perceptions of everyday objects.
During the event, Mendoza shared his creative journey, highlighting how he uses humor and absurdity to explore interactions between humans and the natural world. With a background in Mathematics and Computer Science from Oxford and an MFA from UCLA, Mendoza’s work has been exhibited globally, including at Ars Electronica, SITE Santa Fe, and the V&A Museum. Attendees were captivated by his innovative use of technology and inspired by his ability to turn ordinary objects into extraordinary art.
