Interested in exploring the intersection of dance and technology? Join us for the 2026 New Mexico Dance Hackathon Info Session, where organizers Madrone Matishak and Sarah Bennett Davidson will share highlights from past hackathons, showcase work in the dance and tech space, and walk through this year’s application process.

The New Mexico Dance Hackathon invites dance and new media artists to experiment, collaborate, and develop new work across live performance, installation, and film. Selected projects will receive support, documentation, and the opportunity to present in final performances at UNM ARTSLab this July.

The info session will take place on Thursday, February 26 at 5:30 PM and will offer a closer look at previous projects while highlighting current work at the intersection of dance and digital media.

CITH Workshop

CITH Workshop: Sonifying Space Valery Perez and Adam Vaagen

In this CITH Workshop: Sonifying Space, Monica Bolles walks us through a series of modern audio technology and sound art concepts related to spatial audio and data sonification using Max/MSP. Working with solar storm data from NASA, she shows how data can be mapped to different sound elements and then placed within virtual and physical spaces. She breaks down the basics of data parsing, sonification, and spatial audio in a way that feels approachable. Using tools like Max/MSP, TouchOSC, and the IRCAM Spat toolkit, this workshop is a comprehensive introduction to building immersive audio experiences from data.
