Signature projects include Light Recordings, Tracing Luminaries, The Polar Project, Sky Scrolls, Astromaterials 3D, Encyclopedia of Trajectories, and her bioluminescence and wildfire series. An Emerson Collective, Guggenheim, and Smithsonian Fellow, she has exhibited widely and been featured in outlets such as National Geographic and The New York Times. Blumenfeld holds a BFA from Parsons and an MSc (Distinction) from UCL, has been an artist-in-residence at NASA Johnson Space Center since 2016, lives in Houston, and is represented by Inman Gallery.
