Join us on Friday January 24th while we celebrate and showcase the winning projects from this year's Lunar Arts Award. Featuring work by UNM students: Lila Steffan, Elan Retzlaff, Austin Tecks, Amanda Stormyr, Isabella Romero, and Madison Hailey Emond. LUNAR ARTS AWARD EXHIBIT at ARTSLab (131 Pine St NE) Friday Jan 24th, 2025 4pm-7pm The Lunar Arts Award is presented and supported by the Space Sustainability Research Grand Challenge and ARTSLab.
In Case You Missed It: On November 25, 2024, ARTSL In Case You Missed It: On November 25, 2024, ARTSLab hosted a special presentation by artist Neil Mendoza, known for blending sculpture, software, and engineering to create whimsical and thought-provoking works. Mendoza showcased his Electrical Knife Orchestra, an inventive and humorous installation that transforms everyday electric knives into a musical ensemble, challenging the audience’s perceptions of mundane objects and their potential. During the event, Mendoza shared his creative journey, highlighting how he uses humor and absurdity to explore interactions between humans and the natural world. With a background in Mathematics and Computer Science from Oxford and an MFA from UCLA, Mendoza’s work has been exhibited globally, including at Ars Electronica, SITE Santa Fe, and the V&A Museum.
